Material Selection Guide — Metallic & Non-Metallic Materials

Filterable reference for fluid, gas, steam, sour, and cryogenic services. Includes maximum allowable operating temperature and Minimum Design Metal Temperature (MDMT) for metals, and maximum/minimum service temperature for elastomers and thermoplastics. Switch between US and SI units at any time.

For preliminary screening only. Verify final selection against ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (UCS-66/UHA-51 for MDMT), AMPP/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, NORSOK M-001, and manufacturer data sheets for the specific grade and section thickness.

AMPP/NACE Corrosion Mechanism Categories — Footnote Reference

Amber corrosion-risk chips on material cards are keyed to the numbered categories below (based on standard AMPP/NACE/API 571 corrosion-mechanism nomenclature). These flag known susceptibilities for the alloy in chloride/marine or stagnant-water environments — they do not mean the material is unsuitable everywhere, only that the mechanism should be engineered around (velocity, crevice-free design, cathodic protection, coating, etc.).
